The Head of Technology, Europe (HoTE) has overall responsibility for the delivery, maintenance and security of technology services across the company’s European platform. This includes contributing to the development of strategic and tactical objectives for the department, as well as overseeing and participating in the execution of initiatives to support departmental vision.

The HoTE should work closely with the Chief Technology Officer, Head of Operations, Europe, Heads of Country and Heads of Function to deliver the strategic initiatives and gain stakeholder buy-in from country teams.

Position responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Reporting

  • Contribute to the development of European IT strategy with consideration of the European business needs.
  • Engage regularly with senior European stakeholders to identify needs, and to ensure technology vision and initiatives are well understood.
  • Ensure European technology processes are mapped, optimised, standardised where possible, and aligned with global processes where necessary.
  • Ensure European technology activities are reported as required via suitable management reporting channels.
  • Ensure the company’s technology compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.

Technology Projects

  • Contribute to the development of departmental processes including: project prioritisation; vendor selection; project documentation and reporting; change management; and technology deployment methodology.
  • Oversee European technology team compliance with processes regarding the selection, design and deployment of technology solutions.
  • Participate in weekly PMO activities and provide reports where required.
  • Personally participate in selected technology project activities including:
    • Scoping & requirements workshops
    • Documentation
    • Technology selection and/or development
    • Vendor engagement and selection
    • Deployment & Change Management planning and activity
    • Training and reinforcement initiatives.
  • Oversee delivery of all major projects across the European platform.

Vendor Management

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key hardware and software technology vendors to ensure the company’s best interests are represented, and proactively monitor quality of delivery.
  • Manage vendor performance to ensure adherence with agreed project deliverables, timeframes and budgets.
  • Ensure outsourced support and infrastructure resources are managed.
  • Maintain and negotiate vendor budgets to ensure alignment with wider business needs.

People Management

  • Coach and manage European IT team members as required.
  • Ensure EU IT team compliance with global technology department standards.
  • Ensure OKRs, measurements and initiatives are clearly defined and communicated.
  • Ensure suitable succession planning in place for European IT team members.

Information Security Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation of measures to protect the company’s technology landscape from Cyber Security threats, as well as compliance with ISO27001 and other audit & security standards.
  • Ensure the responsibilities outlined in the Information Securities Roles document (EDMS# 10383179) are promoted and adhered to by infrastructure team in Europe.
  • Ensure all external technology contractors engaged by the European business adhere to guidelines in IT Operating Policy and IT Contractor Declaration.
Special Requirements
  • Reporting to the CTO in Australia, the HoTE will be expected to work regularly outside standard European office hours to ensure time-zone overlap with Australian IT Team resources, with regular early morning starts to participate in calls with Australia-based team members. We offer hybrid and flexible working arrangements to mitigate the impact of these requirements.
  • European travel will be required periodically.
Requirements
Qualifications
  • Degree in Business, Technology, Engineering or similar.
  • Cloud certifications a strong advantage (AWS and Microsoft).
  • Ideally, cyber-security or technology risk certifications.
Experience
Essential
  • Strong track record of managing teams responsible for technology delivery.
  • Demonstrated years’ experience in working in and leading large complex, cross-functional technology projects.
  • Experience presenting and communicating with ‘C-Suite’ and senior management.
Desired
  • Property or Funds Management experience.
  • Experience in assessing and mitigating technology risk.
  • Experience with AWS, Microsoft365 and/or other cloud services.
  • Experience with implementation of ISO27001, NIST, GS007 measures and/or other information security frameworks.
  • Knowledge of GDPR.
